How do I know what decking timbers are suitable for the harsh Perth climate? ... ?

Perth is definitely one of the harshest climates for outdoor decking in the World. Timbers that may be suitable elsewhere will simply not stand up to the conditions that we endure. Perth Outdoor Installations will only use timber species that we can guarantee will stand up to these conditions. We will advise on each of these species when we meet for your initial quotation so you can make an informed decision on which timber to go for.

Where can I find examples and get references of previous work from Perth Outdoor Installations?... ?

Eco Outdoor have an expansive showroom at 4 Drake Steet, Osbourne Park. The showroom has life sized decks and lining projects which Perth Outdoor Installations have completed, as well as a fantastic range of contemporary and stylish outdoor furniture. The showroom is open during business hours and provides an excellent opportunity for the designers and the general public to get a good feel for high-end outdoor products including lining, decking and screening products suitable for most projects.

It depends on the timber chosen by the client. We usually use pre-finished natural Cedar or Glosswood pre-finished lining boards which will require no further maintenance by the client.

When you line a timber ceiling, do you also insulate the roof cavity?

Yes. We normally use an air-cell insulation which works incredibly well even in an outdoor environment.

Do you undertake all sizes of projects, or just small residential installations?

Perth Outdoor Installations is ready to take on any project. Commercial, residential, large, small, intricate, plain, high, low, wide, narrow, anything!

Do you need a plan or drawing in which to work from or do you simply make it up as you go?

A drawing is great to work from but it is not always available. We are happy to work alongside a client to produce the right product. Often subtle changes and additions are made during a project as it progresses. We are flexible and adaptable.

What is the difference between natural decking timber and the new composite decking that is on the market now? . ?

Composite decking requires no maintenance
Composite decking has fire resistant qualities
Composite decking is rated for non-slip
Composite decking will not fade and change colour as much as natural timber
Composite decking gives a uniform look whereas natural timber will have colour variation between the various boards.
Natural timber decking gives a warm wooden look and can blend in nicely with a timber lined ceiling.
Composite decking is more expensive than traditional wooden decking.
